    Hi everyone,

I'm off to Mammoth Cave, Kentucky with my family this next week. I'm looking forward to enjoying a week of "glamping" (In a cabin with electricity and running water). The kids are all excited.
We will be outside a lot and I'm a little worried about keeping my heart kid cool. He's really heat sensitive. Does any one have ideas on how we can still enjoy outside activities and keep him cool. One good thing is we will be in the pool a lot and will probably rest in the cabin with A/C in the hottest parts of the day. But, I thought I would ask the "experts"

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Andrea,
Have a great vacation!  As you know, I'm outdoors sailing every weekend.  I have found that a cooling cloth around the neck provides some relief to the summer heat.  The cloth is dampened and stays cool - also can wipe away the perspiration.  You can pick one up at Wal-Mart for about $7 in the sporting/exercise department.  Helps me stay cooler.

Andrea, I've been there, and it's fascinating. And at least the cave is always cool.  I think it's around 55 degrees year round, so you need sweaters.  And there a number of different tours and activities.  Have fun, and happy spelunking!  Francee

    Hi everyone!

I feel like I've been gone forever. The kids had a great time and thanks for the ideas on the cooling cloths. I need to actually buy a real one. I mistakenly thought we could grab one at Walmart....well there was nothing around for miles and miles except a dollar general. HA! But, we made do and the caves were nice and cool.

A funny story: My heart kid (he is 8) got all the way in to mammoth cave (The big, main one) and decided he would no longer walk. HA! So we had to take turns backpacking him out. I guess he decided that he wasn't walking anymore that day. (Silly kid). We explored a few caves and we went to a place called "Kentucky Down Under". If you ever get the chance to go there DO IT! We got to pet Kangaroos and I even took a selfie with one. It was awesome!
