Cardiac rehab is a great place to visit people and to be able to make those connections with each other and build your chapter. Of course, bedside visiting is important, but there's a connection that can be made in places like cardiac rehab that continues as a friendship and helps to establish new members and new friends.

Greetings from MH Chapter 353 (Redding,CA).....
I had triple bypass surgery nine years ago. I was asked by the Cardiac Rehab nurse if I would like to join the newly formed Mended Hearts group. I am so glad I did. Visiting other heart patients is such a powerful experience. All of our visitors feel the same way. We are grateful for the strong support of the other hospital volunteers and staff. As current President of the MH group I also attend the monthly Hospital Guild meetings in order to strengthen our connection with other volunteers in the hospital.
Our Mended Hearts group consists of six accredited visitors. We have monthly meetings with guest speakers, such as: cardiac surgeon, cardiac nurse, therapist talking about depression, Cath lab supervisor, etc. These meetings are open to anyone. We post notices in Cardiac Rehab and our attendance ranges from 6-15. One of our visitors is exercises regularly in the Cardiac Rehab room and shares information about Mended Hearts with patients there.
This forum is a great way to hear what other MH groups are doing and sharing ideas. Thank you for this opportunity.
