I'm so glad to have found this forum. My name is Megan and I had ASD and mitral valve repair in 1997. I was 12 at the time so bounced back like a champ and have lived a normal life since. I now have 2 children, exercise regularly, and see my cardiologist once a year. My daughter was born in April of this year with Unbalanced AV Canal with a single AV valve. She went into heart failure at 3 weeks old and we wound up in surgery at 5 weeks. Surgery went swimmingly and she has been doing amazing in her cardiac recovery! We are 10 weeks repaired now and her biggest challenge is feeding and growing. She has an NG tube to receive feeds, as her vocal chord was damaged as a result of the procedure. I hope our successful cardiac stories can help anyone looking for hope.
