Is anyone out there who lives with an LVAD and has a POLST in place?

I am 80 years old, have had the LVAD 5+years, and am doing well enough with it. It's time to review my POLST, which was in place before the LVAD. How does one reconcile the two?

    Hello,
My name is Dianna Amberg and I lived with an LVAD for almost 2 years before transplant, but I never heard of a POLST. Can you tell me what it is? I hope you find the answers your looking for.

Dianna Amberg, thank you for your response. And congratulations on having a transplant!

POLST= Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment.

The specifics of this document are worked out between patient and physician. This is where you spell out what you want done and not done when you get to where you've maybe had enough.

    Oliver,
Thank you for explaining POLST to me and now that I know what it stand for, I can tell you that I did that as well before my transplant. How are you doing with the LVAD? I'm so grateful for the LVAD and the extra time it gave me before I was able to get a heart. If you ever want to talk - I believe my number is listed below. I wish you the best on this endeavor and encourage you to live life to the fullest.
