  • 1.  Need someone who's has Afib and had an ablation

    I am a Mended Hearts accredited visitor and PAN member.  Yesterday, I had a phone visit with a man who called me after someone in his doctor's office gave him my number who knew about  Mended Hearts.  He has AFib and had an ablation done last year.  He also is very depressed and prone to anxiety attacks if he has to talk in person. Bless his heart, literally! He is still not feeling too well; having flare-ups of AFib. I did the best I could to encourage him, that we know how he feels, and let him know he is not alone.  I told him if it would help then I would have him talk to someone else (preferably a man) who has these same heart problems. Thanks for any help or advice.

    I am a 10 year MH visitor. 3X CABG in 2010. Cryo ablation December 20 2017. So far so good but they continue to watch me closely for a few months for any possibility of flare ups. He said he can redo if any big flare ups. I’d be happy to communicate with ANY heart folks, CABG, VALVES, AFibs. In addition to visiting heart patients, I volunteer in the OR area one day per week, keeping the waiting families apprised of the status of the operation.

    I can also talk with the person asking about A-fib and ablation. I had my cardioversion in 2012 and I still have occasional instances of A-fib. Mine are about twice a year. I still take medication to prevent clots occurring during these A-fib events. When I feel the A-fib event happening, I sit quietly and breathe deeply until the A-fib event passes.

    ​Hello, Tried to reply the other day but had technical issues.
    I have had AFIB and an Ablation after my CABG. My doctor could not find the cause of the AFIB and the Ablation did not offer any results either. The Holter monitor was used 3 times with mixed results. My doctor finally orders a SEEK (could be a brand name) monitor. I wore that 24/7 for 4 weeks. During that time the monitor caught the problem and I was then set up to have my pacemaker put in. I am also a visitor and will be happy to communicate with the gentleman and/or yourself. I also had some depression and it took me a while to get out if it. The SEEK finding the cause of the problem really helped me get out of the funk.
