I started taking the iron a few years ago and don't recall how long it took for me to feel improvement, but it's still working now and I'm glad to have such a simple, inexpensive OTC treatment. I take Miralax (OTC laxative recommended by my doc tor) for the constipation.
I haven't had an iron infusion but I've had an infusion to treat osteoarthritis and it was extremely unpleasant. But if the oral approach doesn't work, I'd go ahead and have the infusion because life with anemia can be so miserable.

Thanks. So oral Ferrous Sulfate is what I am considering also but wasn't sure how long would it take to bring it up. I am trying to avoid IV Infusion of Iron that one of the practitioner recommended. How did you manage constipation caused by oral iron therapy?

I have anemia. I take a daily iron supplement (325 mg ferrous sulfate) for it. I also have a vitamin B12 deficiency and give myself monthly injections of B12. My doctor says the B12 also helps the anemia. The combination works well for me.
