For anyone who survives a heart event – such as a heart attack or heart surgery – physical healing is just the beginning.

I know because I've been there.

After my quadruple-bypass surgery in 2015, I began to question who I was before the surgery, who I was afterwards, and who I wanted to become moving forward.  Along the way, I encountered a wide range of unexpected emotions, including fear, guilt, anger, and confusion around my purpose in life.  And I discovered a simple secret for not just managing the journey, but actually thriving through the process: Gratitude.

My new book – A New and Better Now – demonstrates how gratitude is more than just something we feel.  It is a method for flourishing in the journey of heart healing and emerging as a better-than-ever version of ourselves.

Please take a look at the book on Amazon (link below) and / or share this information with someone who might have a need.

    Thank you and be well.

You are right in your assessment regarding surviving a cardiac event. Even as a child having been through numerous procedures and two open heart surgeries, you recognize and process those same sentiments but not always understanding the "why" behind it.

Your book should prove helpful for patients, families and the people who surround them to better understand exactly what's going on with them.

Thank you. I look forward to reading your book and will think of you and your beautiful state while reading it.

    Hi Michael,

I just ordered your book because I was floored by the fact that you experienced exactly what I have been telling everyone since I awoke from my two week ventilator sedation after quintuple bypass surgery last February.  My awakening from sedation after contracting ventilator pneumonia was both physical and spiritual.  I was left with an overwhelming sense of gratitude towards those at the hospital that saved my life, those at rhe rehab facility that taught me how to walk and get dressed and eat by myself again, and to my wife and daughter who had to deal with not knowing whether I was going to survive.

I feel grateful for every morning that I wake up, for every commute to and from work that I have the privilege to make, to every dinner with my wife and every conversation I have with my daughter away in college, to every walk I take with my dog, in wind and rain, who welcomed me back from the dead-Greyfriars Bobby, and to Mended Hearts and all these good people who are my brothers and sisters with a bond that is as deep as blood.  God bless you and all of my brothers and sisters.  I love you all.
