Happy Birthday to me

It's my 3year birthday post OHS. I don't think I'll ever be able to fully process what happened. I only know that every day is a new day. I have a purpose to fulfill and it was not time for me to go home. Instead, I had a body makeover. It started with needing gull bladder surgery, which led to the discovery of a huge hole in the bottom of my septic chamber. Some said it was ASD and some said it was AVD. But my Mayo Clinic cardiologist said it was rare and special. By the time I was opened up, I had two arteries tearing. Miracles happen and I only needed a larger tissue than anticipated and stitches to repair the arteries. 9 months later I had a kidney stone attack and had to have surgery to place a stent in my utterer. First night home and I was back in the hospital with a severe infection. I had to go back under because there were still large stones in my kidney blocking the stent. 14 days later, I was stent free and pain free. Needless to say I have a phobia of going to the doctor. I can't end without saying that I found this group just in time. Thank you all for sharing stories, giving advice, and saving my emotional state of mind. We don't have to have the same story about how or why we had OHS, but the emotional connection is a bond I can live with!
God Bless today, tomorrow, and the next day….

Happy Birthday, Carrie!  That is wonderful!

Today is three years and five months since my OHS.  I consider this group of MH people my sangha, which in Buddhism means my community of fellow followers.  We each give one another strength, knowledge, wisdom and insight.

    Thank you one and all!

Congratulations on your 3 years and many more to come. Stay positive and God controls the rest. God has special things for all of us that have gonna through or are about to go through, but we're all here are for a reason. We're here to help one another get through what we are going through and to let them know it will be ok. Best of luck and again congratulations.

Carrie a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY with many many more to come. It appears that I am the OLD guy in this story. I had OHS back
in 1996 (X 4) and a fix up 2004.(x 2). My advise is keep a smile on your face and listen to MUSIC  .
I have found and now actual medical people are getting the message. You get a lift in spirit. Try what ever takes you to happy place.
It can be 15 minutes or an hour and 15..  I-Pad, radio, computer, T V.
I find You Tube just fab. Endless great stuff. Just ask for music and you can have Broadway, concerts, BBC-Prom, Kennedy Centers Honors.  Old movies . ABBA, endless fun stuff. Enjoy and treat yourself for a time out every once in a while. ENJOY.

David, my favorite music is Christian contemporary and the station in the metro area is KTIS 98.5. I also had my surgery team play it during my time on the table. They all loved it 😍

    Happy birthday for sure!!
Wow, what a complicated life you lead. Please give your family and friends lots of hugs, you and they need each other!
There is a reason you are still here.
Mine was to enjoy more grandchildren ( i had 3 and 3 more were born after my Open heart surgery with complications). In celebration of my survival, I started a prayer group which was active for 6 years!
Please find a volunteer job to do, may something you can do at home and not on a strict schedule.

Wow, Carrie! You certainly did have a full body makeover. Happy Birthday! I am so happy to hear that you are in good spirits. One major surgery is a lot to recover from, and you had a really tough. You have strength of spirit. What do you do to keep yourself positive? You are an inspiration.

Thank you so much Andrea. Sometimes I have to fake it to make it…lol. But I have a strong personal relationship with God. He saved my soul and guided me to a new way of life. There was no way God brought me this far to let me die now. My work has just begun. I still have real struggles with what I went through, but I feel if I claim my fear, it will take over me. But if I claim victory, then It helps me to still believe He is still working on me. The fear in knowing that I could have had a stroke or heart attack that would have been catastrophic putts the real fear that what would have happened if I was in my old state of mind, without God? So I find myself thanking Him everyday for saving my life!!!!
