At age 49, I was in better shape than most guys in their 20s. I ate healthy, never smoked, exercised. I even still had a six-pack. So a heart attack is the last thing I thought would ever hit me. Then I had the "widow-maker". In the 6 years since, I've had a second heart attack along with several emergency room visits when I felt like I was having another heart attack but turned out to be nothing. As I'm sure everyone here can attest, life post-heart attack can be very frustrating, especially for someone like me who was always a hard-charger. I've been forced to slow down and take it easy, which hasn't always been easy. But as I've just had my first grandchild, I want to be around for a long time and am trying to do what I need to do to stay healthy.

Question for the group:  One of the symptoms I had in the weeks and months leading up to both heart attacks that I've never seen listed anywhere else for signs of heart disease/heart attacks is night sweats. I would wake up in the night lying in a puddle of sweat. It went away after the stents were put in and the blood was flowing again so I'm sure it was related. Has anyone else experienced this?

Wow,I had triple bypass June 30th@age 48-no heart attack they found an aneurysm in "widow maker"+2 other blockages. I to was in good shape+have a physically active job+life style. I experienced the sweats like that but only after the surgery and that was after violent chills every night for a few weeks.
Good luck in your search,I've had success with getting answers from this forum.

Yes Brett this is not uncommon. I started having night sweats to the point that I could wring out my tee shirt I was wearing and had to change the sheets. My heart problems were from an infection in my heart valves, so I'm not familiar with the heart attack symptom due to the fact I haven't had one. Discuss it with your issue with your cardiologist, I'm sure he will want to know if you are having night sweats.

Hi Brett I can totally relate to night sweats. I told my GP that I woke up at night sweating and felt cold and my blood pressure was high when I took it. He sent me to a cardiologist and I had the widow maker with two other blockages . Since then have had both carotids cleaned and blood clot in my colon and they removed a third of it. Been fortunate that I've never had other problems. Hate you've had other things. Just wanted you to know that I also had night sweats. Wishing you the best, Jerry
