  • 1.  Big discrepancy in Ejection fraction between nuclear stress test and Echo

    I recently underwent a stress test to clear me for knee replacement surgery. EF was 35. This was shocking since 3 Echo tests done in the last 2 years were 66, 73 and 80 respectively. My Dr. decided to do a new (4th) Echo showing 65 EF. I had the surgery and am recovering. Has anyone seen this level of discrepancy?  Explanation? Thanks.

    My ejection fraction dropped to 10 with idiopathic asymptomatic cardiomyopathy, but I've managed to get to 40+.  But when a I had a nuclear stress test in early 2016, it supposedly dropped to 29.  My cardiologist was very concerned and actually did a heart cath. My last echo was a solid 40, and he and I were both relieved. I'll mention your situation to my cardiologist as well.  Maybe there is some connection.

    I also have a big discrepancy in ejection fractions between echo test and nuclear test.  Echo showed 36%.  Nuclear test showed 51%.  My cardiologist said to ignore the 51%?  As he says the echo test is more accurate.  I'm thinking I need a second opinion.
