Looking for TAVR patient experiences

    Hi Everyone-

I'm a newbie here to whom the TAVR procedure has been recommended.  I'm a little outside the normal TAVR patient profile in that i'm younger (will turn 70 in April) and, except for chronic prostate cancer, that I've had for 12 years, in otherwise good health.  Non-smoker, not overweight, ex-endurance athlete (rowing).  Turns out I have a bicuspid aortic valve that is leaking badly and possibly some stenosis both of which are the result of calcification.  As part of the pre-op workup I had my first ever angiogram, which discovered an 80% block on one coronary artery that was cleared with a stent.

I'd be interested in hearing about others' experiences with this procedure, such has how long was the recovery period?, when were you able to resume normal activities?, how long were you hospitalized?, any lingering adverse effects?, any unpleasant surprises and, finally, now that you have had the procedure how much did it improve your quality of life?

    Thanks to all in advance.
