    Aortic Aneurysm Survivors,

Thank you to all the Open Forum community who has responded with stories about their recovery from aortic aneurysm surgery.

It has been just five weeks since my Aortic Arch Procedure at NYP Weill Cornell Medical Center. My cardiologist has reduced some of the post-surgery meds and my friends tell me my voice and cognitive ability is improving (?).

I began walking daily at the hospital (450 feet) and at home have been continually increasing the distance. I started at 500 feet, then 1,000 feet at a nearby Mall and yesterday it was increased to 2,100 steps measured by the iPhone Health Activity app.

My physical stamina and endurance for travel, meetings, meals and walking has increased from one hour to 3 hours before I'm too tired to continue. This is my second surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm, the first was tem years ago. This recovery seems to be slower but not considerably different. I will be leading our monthly Mended Hearts of Morris County meeting this Sunday.

I look forward to meeting our members again and sharing my experiences and lessons learned. I am indeed a very lucky man.

    Best Regards,

    Vic
