Hello all and Happy Thursday ! My cardiologist suggested that I start taking Entresto to prevent moderate to severe for heart failure. I currentry take Spirolactone along with Coreg, benezapril and isorobide. If you are currently taking entresto please let me know effective is it and what are the side effects? Did it raise your ejection faction?
    Thanks .

    Hi Ann,

I've taken Entresto for over a year, ever since I left ICU after being diagnosed with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. I'd started the 10 days in ICU with an EF of 15%, and on a dobutamine drip. By the time of discharge--and transition to Entresto--I was at 27%. Unfortunately, there I have stayed. BUT...because I ended up with hypotension, we were never able to titrate the Entresto beyond the 49/51mg dose ... because one of its side effects is lowered BP. Which, hey! Might be good for some folks, but not me. It craters my BP, and my systolic is in the 80s as is. I do also have a persistent cough, which I have put down to Entresto.

I'm hoping my continuing to take it is what has kept my EF from getting worse, though, because in the 15 months since, it's still ~25%.

Not perhaps what you wanted to hear, but I hope the info helps.

    Cheers.

[My heart hasn't responded to any "traditional therapies," however, so I've been referred for transplant. Thus, I can hardly blame Entresto for not coming through for me, right?]

    Rachel,
Thanks so very much for your response about taking entresto . I have the same issue with blood pressure dropping and therefore hesitant to get on this Med. It is also quite expensive. However, I do appreciate that it raised your ejection faction. I pray that you receive your new heart soon and will feel like a new energetic person. Thanks for your very helpful and resourceful response.
Take care and have a blessed day.
    Ann
