    Hi,
I have an aneurysm 42mm and undergoing tests for hereditary/connective tissue disorder.
Night times are awful but I think it's a separate issue. I lay down and go to sleep and then my heart seems to be working extra hard, I can hear the pounding in my ears and feel the pressure In my chest. I do have palpitations also and this all wakes me up feeling sicky.
I  measure my blood pressure and it's all fine and also pulse is good. Once I'm standing or sitting upright again I'm fine.
It's always the same when I lie down everything seems like it's working overtime.
    Can anyone help please.

    Cindy,

I don't have an aneurysm, though lots of other cardiac problems, and I can't explain what's going on with your heart, but I'm curious to see what other members say about your problem because my palpitations are usually worse when I'm lying down. I wake up after a night of supposed restful sleep with my heart going crazy in my chest. Very weird.

Are you in Shrewsbury, MA? I was born in Ipswich and lived in Topsfield as a child. Small world.

    Cindy,
The palpitations you're feeling at night are called tachycardia.   Your cardiologist can provide complete details about the causes of this type of  condition. Connective tissue disorder is also a common cause of an ascending aortic aneurysm.  One of the best thoracic surgeons in New Jersey is Dr. John Brown at the Morristown Medical Center. His reputation is outstanding and he's recognized as one of the top surgeons in the in the tri-state area. Incidentally, Dr. Brown performed my ascending aortic aneurysm surgery in 2007.  If you have any questions, email me at fvfabry@gmail.com

    All the Best,
    Vic

Cindy ~ just a swag, but ask your Cardiologist about doing a sleep study. This sounds more like sleep apnea than anything. This condition seems to go hand in hand with heart disease. A CPAP machine can often resolve these issues and give you the rest you need.
