I was wondering if anyone knew of any resources to help pay medical bills.  I love my doctor and my hospital and I believe they deserve all they earn.  However, with all the test and appointments I have every year I just cannot afford the bills on my salary. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Assuming you are located in the US, most states offer a healthcare program , Medicaid, for low income people. You can apply through DES (Department of Economic Security).  You can also contact a hospital social worker to help guide you to getting financial help with medical bills. They're very helpful.

    Good luck

There are some resources out there, Katie.  I had to look for them when I had cardiomyopathy, was self-employed and my income was cut off.  The best places to start are with the doctors and hospitals involved.  Tell them your situation and ask for their help.  There may also be some resources in your state.  Good luck with everything. And don't be afraid to ask for help.  That's what I had to learn to do.

Thank you for your response. I will keep trying to get help for my medical bills. The issue is the insurance code on my yearly echo. The insurance will not pay on the bill because of how it is coded. I'm worried this will be an ongoing battle.

Katie, Someone in your doctor's office, a social worker or insurance coordinator  or whoever handles such things, should be able to help you with the coding problem.  The main issue to make your doctors and hospital aware of your situation.  Usually, they're very helpful, because it helps you and helps them get paid as well.  My doctor's office was amazing.  At the beginning, the financial person said I had enough problems with cardiomyopathy, and they would not send bills, and it would eventually work out.  I knew right then I was in the right place, because they cared about me, instead of the money.  A year later, she said, "Remember when I told you it would all work out? You now have a balance of $6.60.  I paid cash..
Hope this helps; just don't let it interfere with your health.

The insurance code error is not uncommon
Load yourself with patient, I have gone through that
Talk with billing department from, your Doctor, anesteciologo , Hospital, etc till they write the correct code AND document your emails or other sources of communication
In that period of time, make sure that you let them know, that your insurance will pay if they provide that, because you can not pay out of your pocket
Do not get mad, will not help your health or the process
    Good luck, Grace
