Hello. I'm new to this and looking for some answers/experience if anybody is familiar. I realized this is a forum specific to the heart but am still in need of some input if possible. I recently had been heavily impacted in my chest/sternum area while riding my dirtbike, on 2 different occasions. Both times taken to ER. Miraculously, CT scan/X ray showed nothing broken or fractured. But if I move the wrong way or over exert, it causes a very deep and very heavy popping. As if something moves out of place and then back jn. Muscle spasms follow. Severe pain follows. Some say its torn muscles/cartilage but idk about that. It feels like something is dislocated when it pops. Haven't found a doctor to perform MRI. Wondering what this could be? Any input helps so I can understand how to heal. Thank you.

    Hello Jake,
Glad to hear nothing is broken. Bones that is. Cartilage and tendons however can be damaged and still be in place most of the time. Think of it as a torn rotator cuff. The arm still works, you can still write and open doors but if you pick up something the wrong way or is too heavy the pain can hit hard.
The sternum is cartilage and the muscles attached to the rib bones work just fine most of the time. But as you said you just go to do something simple and bam!
I think you have the right idea about getting an MRI. You may want to see a Sports Medicine Practioner as they may be more familiar with cartilage type injuries.
I am no Doctor. I am a former military medic and also worked in the operating room and emergency room for many years.
I hope this helps. Take care

Thank you for your response. I will follow up with a sports doctor. They are probably the most familiar with any uncommon injuries. Thank you for services in the medical field as well.
