Good Day fellow Heart Menders,

Just found this site and am happy to have joined. I recently found out through a hospital $99 CT Scan special that I have a 4.9 cm Ascending Anuerysm, a 4.9 cm Aortic Root and a Bicuspid Aortic Valve that needs to be replaced. I have surgery scheduled in a few weeks and was hoping that someone here could help. It appears that I am having the Bentall procedure. The surgeon tells me that the surgery is complicated. Has anyone here had this procedure done? I appreciate any insight or feedback as I prepare myself. Thanks in advance!!

Hi Mike - I had a dissecting aortic aneurysm emergent repair 3 years ago. I do not have a bicuspid valve. I had valve repair not replacement. I am very involved with other online (Facebook) communities that support folks like us. Check out Aortic Hope, Aortic Aneurysm Awareness Network, Aortic Warriors, and many others. I have two brothers that have had full Bentall procedures - one went with a mechanical valve, one went with tissue valve.
