I had a massive heart attack less than three months ago that resulted in open heart surgery for a triple bypass. Started having chest pains again a couple of weeks ago and called my doctor, who scheduled a nuclear stress test last week. Just got the results on Friday and it showed another blockage. She scheduled me for a heart cath this coming Thursday. Tonight, I woke up to the excruciating pain in my right shoulder. It wasn't in my shoulder joint like I had injured it or slept on it wrong. It was my entire shoulder region. Also had been having chest pains earlier in the evening. I know that pain in the left shoulder can be a sign of a heart attack but has anyone else on here experienced pain in the right shoulder during their heart attack? Not sure if I should go to the ER or not.

if you haven't done so by now. Go to the nearest ER. Call 911.  Your heart is telling you, things are not  right. Don't waist precious time.

Brett, never ignore shoulder pain.  I have had 3 open hearts, 7 stints, & many other problems over the past 12 or 13 years - all were indicated by pain in my left shoulder.  I have never had "chest pain" persay - always pain in the left shoulder.  Don't ignore it.  Call your doctor or go to the ER as soon as possible.  I hope everything is okay.

Even though Right shoulder pain is not a textbook indicator of coronary pain but it does not hurt to get it checked, No place is better than ER as they will run all sorts of tests which will rule out unnecessary doubts but if anything is diagnosed, will get immediate attention.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. It turns out the pain in my right shoulder was indeed an indicator of issues with my heart. I had the heart catheterization on Thursday, which showed that one of the grafts from my open heart surgery in April had collapsed. They ended up putting a stent in one of the blocked vessels that the graft had replaced but as it was smaller than the vein that had collapsed, my heart was still starving for blood and I ended up in ICU Thursday evening. Was pretty sure I was going to buy the farm that night and the only thing that saved me, besides a lot of people praying for me, was they finally started shooting me full of blood thinners which allowed the blood to get through the restricted vessel and got my heart pumping properly again. Thankfully I survived another round of issues with my heart and am still around for a little while longer, at least.
