    Hi everyone,
16 months after my heart attack I staring to feel stronger. I also have more stamina.
I only wish I could get my blood pressure down. It is still too high. I have resistant hypertension like my father.
I have tried so many medications for my PB. I eat as well as I can and exercise. I'm trying to loose weight.
Don't know what else to do.

    Janis,

Has your cardiologist placed you on a fourth blood medication, together with the other three that I understand are needed for a diagnosis of resistant hypertension?  Maybe consult with another cardiologist that specializes in resistant hypertension?  From what I'm reading, it doesn't sound like it's that unusual a condition.  I've read that 25% of cases are resistant.  If that's really true, I'm guessing that there is a lot of knowledge and expertise to be found out there.

    Hi Ira,
I'm seeing a new cardiologist. She specializes in treating women & resistant hypertension.
I have tried a few "fourth" BP meds.  None have worked.

    Greetings Janis.
Good to hear that your stamina and strength are doing well. On the BP meds, after my 6 by-pass open heart surgery many years ago, it took quite a while for my primary physician and cardiologist to determine what worked best to keep my blood pressure down. There was one that worked very well and as a diuretic it flushed my system of water weight. However, it also took out so much potassium that it put me at risk. They finally settled on two prescriptions which have worked so well that as I lose weight, they are considering reducing the dosage. If one loses enough weight, eat extra healthy, mostly fruits and veggies, lean meat or fish, and low sodium intake, it makes the meds work better.
Let your cardiologist keep searching for the right combination or BP prescription. Even if it take a while, in the long run, it will be worth it.
    God blesses you!

Congratulations Janis to being a Survivor of the Heart Maladies that have taken our Ancestors Lives.  We owe our current Survival Rates to the Clinical Trials for Pharmaceuticals and the Technology of new Heart Strengthening/Replacement devices that Prior Patients/Practitioners have developed so that we can have "Our" second chance at Life.  My Cardio Physiology group started me on a Low Weight caliber-ed Daily movement Regimen.  I was told to buy the Arm Weights the Leg Weights (They Usually come in a Set) the Stretching Bands.  Firstly, I began 1 X a day using the Bands and Stretching my Muscles . . . then 2 X a day using the Bands and Stretching my Muscles. . .   Then I began wearing the weights for 30 minutes . . .  then 1 Hour . . .   the Low Impact addition to my regular Daily Movements about the house became my Low Impact Cardio Strengthening regimen.  It is easily attainable, your Breathing and Heart Rate will tell you when it is time to remove the weights as you just carry out about your days regular movements.  Then begin the same the next day and you will notice shortly how your stamina and your strength in your Muscles and your Heart will improve over time along with the Calories that your Muscles are helping you Burn/Tone everyday  . . .   Good Luck in your Continued Recovery . . .   I have worn my Weights when out in the world shopping and many people have come up to me with their own questions about their own Cardio Deficit Limitations after Heart Failure recovery so you / we are not alone with our desire to "Become Better not Bitter" after our Life Changing Heart Failure episodes !! Regarding Heart Healthy Diet practices, I have been on the Dr. Steven Gundry Heart Failure Diet since 6/15/2016 you will notice a difference with easy adjustments to your Food Intakes !! https://drgundry.com . . .  Be Blessed : ) Robin

    Hi Robin,
Thanks for trying to help. I have a lot of comorbidities.  RA, OA, diabetes 2, Sjogrens & fibromyalgia. I think I may have chronic fatigue syndrome too.
I have a bad back too; but that is much better.
So, although I'm improving at a snails pace, slow & steady is good.
I have an exercise bike that I ride most days and I stretch & do yoga.
