    Hello all!
I'm Steve and I have a 17 yr history of dilated aortic root and recently found out I have a Bicuspid aortic valve along with some dilation of my ascending aorta as well. (Root is 4.6 cm, ascending 4.2 cm and aortic valve has some mild regurgitation ). Have had some mild growth of the aorta in the past couple of years so I decided to get an opinion  at a large center that specializes in the problem.  Surgery is recommended once aorta measurement gets to 5.2 cm. I am fortunate that aorta growth has been stable all these years and I have had and still have an active life with the aorta problem. Have a 50 lb lifting restriction now. I was looking for some positive outcomes with people who have had surgery for this problem and I am pleased that I found that on this site. Hoping that it will be a few years before I need surgery ! Thanks again to everyone who has posted about their aortic disease. It has definitely helped ease my mind regarding potential surgery in the future.

    Steve

    Hi Steve,
Thank you for your sharing. I'm 68 years old and on 09/26/2021 I just found out I have 4.0cm in my ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm. Doctor wants to check me back within a year or sooner if things change. I'm worrying and hope my dilated aortic root won't get bigger soon.
