    Shirley,
The Bicuspid Aortic Valve is a comment congenital defect that your were born with. Most people live a long uneventful lives until middle age when the defect becomes problematic.  The fact that your cardiologist also detected an aortic aneurysm is not unusual.  The procedure required includes open heart surgery to correct the aneurysm and replace the aortic valve. I had both procedures completed at Morristown Medical Center in 2007.  Your cardiologist is important since he or she will be your advocate in selecting the best surgeon for your particular case. You should have confidence in your cardiologist and the heart surgeon and medical center they recommend.
