Hi my name is David and have gone through extensive heart surgery during the past 2 years.  The latest surgery involved replacing a defiibilator with a dual ICD
( defiibilator and pacemaker) in December 2017.  During the past couple weeks while sleeping I have been woken by an electrical twitch (not the medical terminology).  My cardiologist has said that many people experience the same thing when they have an ICD.  So, I am asking my Mendedheart friends is anyone experiencing the same thing with their devise?

David, there are a number of things that could be causing the stimuli you are describing. 1st, your device will do a self diagnostic test once daily. Some people do feel the electrical pulses when testing is conducted. The tech or doctor can tell you what time they have yours set to perform that function. So, if you can pinpoint the time and compare to when they set your self diagnostics that'll answer that question and perhaps help resolve it by changing some settings. 2nd, if they added or replaced any leads the lead could be causing the sensation most notably when placed near the diaphragm. 3rd, One problem that while rare does occur, damaged lead causing stimuli in locations where a break in the insulation or lead happens. They can check the lead resistance and see if that has changed. Finally, this is a foreign object and your body wants to reject it. Tingling, or little "shocks" are quite common sensations and most likely a nerve causing it. Nothing to worry about. If it does become bothersome, they can turn down the voltage and see if that resolves the issue. Again try to pinpoint a time and see if it correlates to your device pacing, ATP or some other therapy. Most likely this is nothing to worry about and may disappear with time. I've had a device for 11 years and still get tingling once in awhile. Good luck
