It is scary experience but after recovery you should feel so much better.  If it is offered, after you recover, do the cardiac rehab.  That helped me so much.  Give yourself time to heal.  It took be at least 4 weeks to start feeling better.  Every person is different on this journey.

    Hi Cathy Kaiser,
During your recovery, I recommend that you check the hospitals in your area and ask about the Ornish Intensive Cardiac Rehab program. The program is relatively and is not offered at all hospitals. The program addresses the causes of heart disease. It addresses what and how we eat. The program has the same monitored exercise program as other cardiac recovery programs. Part of the program addresses how stress affects us and has a way to relax and reduce stress. Then, for individuals who want something to help them to live a healthy life after the program ends, the program encourages you to meet regularly with the people who went through the program with you. The program is of benefit for everyone, BUT not everyone is serious enough about preventing future heart problems to accept the low fat plant based lifestyle. Some low or no fat dairy products are allowed in limited quantities. My group graduated from the program almost two years ago. We still meet twice a month and encourage each other continue the new lifestyle. We discuss where we found to eat out and where we found low fat or no fat products and whether or not we would recommend the product. We bring low fat or no fat foods to the meeting.

    Hello,

My suggestion regarding diet would be to read the books “Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease”, “The Starch Solution”, and “How Not to Die”. I would also recommend seeing the film “Forks Over Knives”.

    Hi!
I'm happy to hear that your surgery went well and that you are on the road to recovery. Make sure to rest and take your doctors advice on when to get more active. Good luck!
