Hey Everybody,
I am new to this forum and I really appreciate all the insightful/inspirational stories.
I have just scheduled surgery for my Aortic Valve replacement and I am going with the mechanical valve (after doctor consult) I am 43 yrs old (dad of 3), reasonably active and absolutely terrified of this upcoming surgery but understand that it is necessary. I do have some mild symptom's but I continue to golf, play soccer, etc...
I would really appreciate insight into what to expect. Post-Op recovery time? Will I be able to work remote for work after 2 weeks (email stuff)? Anything else I should know?
Also, I have been led to believe that long term outlook looks very good and that I should live a normal life other than the blood thinner schedule. Is that accurate (obviously knowing that all patients are different). Also, should I anticipate years being shaved off my life?
Greatly appreciated.
