Hello all,
My name is Lydia from Clovis, California. My husband and I have 2 Heart Heroes. Our son and daughter were born with Complete Atrioventricular Heart block. Our son Cooper is 4 years old, not paced, doing great, very active. Since his body is tolerating the lower heart rate well, we are praying we can get him to at least 8 years old before needing his pacemaker. Our daughter-she's her own person-she came 4 weeks early, did well, however we struggled many months with her being to gain weight. July 2016 is when her cardiologist and electrophysiologist decided it's time for her pacemaker. She did great! We were able to stay just 2 days in the hospital recovering, then came home and about 2 weeks post-op she was off and crawling everywhere! She's feisty and full of so much life and love! We can't imagine our lives without her. The surgery was hard on our sweet, tenderhearted little boy to see his sissy with wires and IVs in. He's been dealing with a little PTSD from it, but we take it one day at a time and have discovered talking about his cardiology appointments before hand has decreased his stress and anxiety.
I am now ready to dive in full fledge and be a help wherever i can! I am so excited to give back and spread our story and CHD awareness and advocate for our children everywhere. I can't wait to grow and learn and here everyone's stories of their brave Heart Warriors!
