Good Anthony,
I Believe your surgery will go well. I had three OH when there were still dinasours roaming around, in 1969.
There was no such thing as counseling, therapy, or any kind of emotional support back then, and I suffered greatly from the trauma, not so much the surgery itself, but this 11 year old was only told that I had a 5o/50 chance of surviving.
Thanks, I feel soooo relieved!
Anyway, yes you will be starting a rather incredible journey as you heal; one of insight, compassion- a whole new or/and continuation of you in this super world. I always urge patients to play an active role in receiving counseling before, during, and after surgery. Sounds like you are doing just that!
Thinking of you this Friday!
IN PEACE

Subject: OHS on Friday
Having OHS this Friday to repair my mitral valve. I have to say that I am not as nervous as I would have expected to be. I guess my mindset now is to just have it done so I can start the long road to recovery. I will try and document the surgery/recovery process as much as I can.
