The Mended Little Hearts 4th Annual CHD Symposium was hosted in Houston, TX over the weekend. Fabulous and great information was shared throughout the day. Each panel focused on a different area of treating CHD, including family supports and social needs.

You can access all of the live recording on the Mended Little Hearts Facebook page. If you follow this link to their page, you can scroll down and find each session and watch them as you can!

    Hi Jesse!

My son's heart function took a hit after the Glenn and they weren't sure he would be a candidate for the Fontan. Our surgeon was a bit hesistant but our cardiologist advocated for the Fontan and he had it shortly before his 4th birthday. I have to say, he rocked it and it was so much easier for all of us than the 1st 2 surgeries. Yes, it was harder because he was older and more aware, but it was also easier because he was old enough to communicate his needs, wants, and discomfort. We were home in only 6 days even though we'd been told to estimate at least 2 weeks.

I know heart surgery is never, ever easy emotionally or physically but I am praying for your family. My son was in the OR for so long--maybe 12 hours total--we were the very last people there into the evening--it was so nerve-racking but when he came out and they said he did better than expected, you can imagine the joy and relief we felt. We're here for you if you have any other q's.
