    Hello everyone,

Mended Hearts would like to hear from you on the topic of out-of-pocket prescription costs and patient assistance. this will help our partner organization in tailoring their services to meet the needs of patients. Would you please take a few minutes to complete the survey. The more responses the better for our organizations. You can click this link to complete: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/patientassistancesurvey

Here is a little information about our two organizations and why this survey is important.

    • The Patient Access Network (PAN) Foundation is hosting a survey about patient assistance.  The PAN Foundation is a national nonprofit organization that helps people living with life-threatening, chronic and rare diseases pay for the out-of-pocket costs of their prescription medications.
    • Mended Hearts has been working with PAN for some time to provide patients with education and support about heart disease.
    • PAN is interested in learning more about the financial assistance patients may need to cover the out-of-pocket costs for their medications as well as the challenges patients face when looking for financial assistance.
    • The survey includes standard consenting language at the start.
    • Individual responses will be anonymous.  All responses will be combined and analyzed together.
    • The survey should only take about 5 minutes.

Regarding prescription out of pocket costs: If your prescription is not generic and you have commercial insurance, check with the manufacturer's website or number (located on the prescribing information or the information provided by the pharmacy). In many cases, the company may have a program so you pay $10 a script or a reduced copay. This is usually not dependent on income level. I have used this for many different drugs. It is not something advertised by the pharmacy or physicians, but is typical of the pharmaceutical industry wanting drugs to be affordable for those needing the medication.
