    Hi all, 

    I was at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Conference this weekend and the exhibit hall is HUGE with all kinds of booths. I was able to "see" my son's exact heart defect in a real heart from display. They had the hearts out and could explain the defect and show you them. It was really amazing. 

    So....I didn't really have a question but thought I would share the experience. As a heart mom it was really awesome to see the defect, and how the repair is made. I have never been able to really see the heart (in real life) and see the defect. So...it was exciting for me.

    Lydia, we weren't allowed pictures (or video) which made me super sad! I was so excited to experience it but wish I had been able to document it. There were no pictures allowed in the expo hall at all.

    I'd have loved to have experienced that! It's hard to grasp (at least for me) our daughter's defect even with the MRI's, CT scans and then actual pictures of her heart during surgery. I'm jealous that you get to experience things like that.
    I'd love to learn more on how to bring awareness here locally for CHD. Not much is available here for parents. Most families head to Pittsburgh for treatment with a once a month cardiologist that comes into town. Some of us have picked other places, depending on situations and experience for treatment. 
    Even for my father, who is in his 70's, there is not much available for support!
