As a very independent young woman, I married young and immediately joined the military with the goal of becoming the first Woman Chief of Staff of the US Air Force. Military is in my blood, and my strong independent streak and attention to detail would serve me well in my chosen career field. But God had other plans for me. At my first permanent duty station, life took a violent turn and I found myself divorced, a born-again Christian, and looking for a new profession. I brushed myself off, and determined to carry on and make the best of what pieces of my dream were still available. Fast forward many years, and I find myself remarried to an amazing guy, stepmom to a son 11 years my junior, and mother to 2 amazing boys...one of which was diagnosed in utero with VACTREL, which included the congenital heart defect DORV. I may not have been able to become the first woman Chief of Staff of the USAF, but I find I'm perfectly suited to be first successful Chief of Staff of the Stanton Family.
