Hi, Rick.....
I am 4 weeks out from a triple bypass and aortic valve replacement and I have the same stinging, burning pain in the upper part of my chest and in my entire right arm noted more in the evening than during the day. The doctors say that the feelings are "normal".....that the nerves are "regenerating" or "calming down" (depending on which doctor I ask) and that it sometimes takes up to 4 months for these feelings to pass. I'm just taking Tylenol, but it is definitely not strong enough. The pain is definitely impacting my quality of life.
Regards,
Leslie

Subject: Pain and stinging in chest 4 weeks post quad bypass surgery - normal??
Hi, my name is Rick. I had quadruple bypass surgery and pacemaker on April 1st (yes April Fools day) After 4 weeks I am still having much pain in the chest, and constant stinging pain. Is this normal? If so, how long before this pain will lessen? I can't take Percocet or Hydrocodone, currently taking (2) 50mg Tramadol every 6 hours or so - sometimes it takes the edge off and sometimes not. Does anyone have any ideas on how to alleviate the pain? Any help (or confirmation that this is normal) is greatly appreciated!
