  • 1.  Bump at top of Chest

My husband had a 3 artery cabg 1 1/2 years ago.  He has a small bump at the top of his chest.  About 6 months ago, he told his Dr, it was sore & bothered him.  The Dr said it was where all the rib cage wiring came together & would go away.  I have noticed him rubbing it lately & he said the bump is still quite painful & bothers him.  Has anyone else had issues with this.

I'm guessing your doc ordered a chest xray to diagnose? Seems simple enough.

No, he didn't order a chest xray.  Said it would eventually quit bothering him

I experienced something like what you describe. Was told it was due to "migrating wires." Discomfort went away and never returned. If it gets worse, though, I'd follow up with the doctor.

I had my surgery in February of 2008 and I had a similar issue, a bump on the upper chest and painful scar going down the chest. This takes a very long time to go away, approximately two to three years. It was so bad initially that I couldn't wear a rough piece of clothing for a while. I have been fine now for quite some time. I used vitamin A&D ointment to keep the area moist.

Thank you so much for your reply.  I just told my husband.  I said, it might not make the bump feel better right now, but it should make your mind feel better.  Again, it's good to know that it's normal.
