I used Vitamin E oil. Buy 400 IU capsules, pinch hole with a safety pin, squeeze out the oil and apply.

This worked on me and most of the scar has faded.

That's a mark of honor! You don't need to make it go away. Let him wear it with dignity not shame. Time will heal it. Nerves, muscle, and tissue are forming around the metal "stitches" to become a part of his body. It's going to go through many stages.
    God bless

I agree 1000% with Carrie. As for me, the scar healing process never bothered me one iota. I had fun with it. I used to tell people it was from a wolf attack or a shark and then laugh at the stunned looks before I told them the truth. Sadly, over the last 7 1/2 years, the scar has faded to a thin white barely noticeable line without me having done anything.

Seriously, though, everyone is different. My chest incision wasn't my first scar and my prior scars also faded into thin white barely noticeable lines. My brother, on the other hand, carries a long purple keloid scar from childhood surgery on his leg. I'm pretty sure, though, that he never gives it a second thought and is just happy that the bone cancer my parents feared turned out to be nothing but a benign cyst.
