Hi Karen,
I also had sudden cardiac arrest at home. My husband did CPR and called 911. That was back in 1998 at age 45. I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and received an implanted defibrillator and medications. That kept me going for about the next twenty years, and then I received a heart transplant four years ago.
Sudden cardiac arrest was a scary experience, especially since I was unaware of any heart problems before the arrest. My emotions following my cardiac arrest ranged from feeling so lucky to have survived, to why did this happen to me, to what's going to happen next, to the point where my husband called my nurse and had her talk with me. It really helped. I also joined a support group.
Please feel free to call me if you'd like to chat. You're going through a lot right now and we're all here to help each other.
