July 23, 2020 Meeting Minutes
Mended Hearts Chapter 12 met Thursday, July 23, 2020, via Zoom. Attending the meeting were Letty and Dean Rucker, Tracy and Sam Kaiser, Steve Kranyec, Mary Myers, Dale Whitney John Hasandras and Millie Henn
President Jeffries called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Mr. Jeffries explained the new Mended Hearts virtual visiting program Visit Me. It is a nationwide support program for heart patients and families. Those seeking support will log in to the program and be connected to the national office in Albany, GA, and the office will forward the call to a trained visitor on duty. Volunteers are being trained and will volunteer for call shifts during the week. The web address is www.myheartvisit.org and the program will begin August 1, 2020.
Steve Kranyec moved to accept the June 25, 2020 minutes. The motion carried. The treasurer’s report was accepted. Mrs. Rucker reported a Balance of $2,797.26. $955.49 is restricted to use for the heart pillow project. Mr. Jeffries reported that the number of patient visit to date remains at 239 due to the prohibition of face to face visits. The visits will resume when the covid virus restrictions end. Pillows are still being distributed to heart surgery patients. Rick Whitney is keeping ICU and 4 South supplied with pillows. Mr. Whitney is putting the Chapter 12 newsletter on the Website.
Millie Henn moved that Chapter 12 provide up to 12 pillows a month as needed for use by Waco’s Hillcrest Hospital heart surgery patients until Waco Mended Heart Chapter takes on this responsibility.. (this request came thru Tammy Jackson, Baylor Scott and White cardia nurse.) Motion was seconded and carried.
Mr. Jeffries reported that Chapter 12 approved the national bylaws changes. He submitted our vote to the national office. He informed the membership about the virtual training happening August 10-22 through webinars.
Steve Kranyec shared several ideas about fund raising. Crayon caddies for children was one suggestion. Lloyd will send picture of caddy to membership.
