Pandemic guidelines still prohibit face to face meetings, so we will again gather together for the second meeting of 2021 via zoom. Hopefully this spring we can find ways where we can meet together face to face again. *********************************************************************************

Chapter News and Updates:
It is with sadness that I must inform you of the passing of one of our members. Paul Weis died on Saturday April 24th due to complications from a broken hip he suffered in a fall at his home. Paul was just 1 month short of his 79th birthday. Paul and Valerie were married 54 years. Paul served Mended Hearts for many years in Austin and Temple. He was an Accredited Visitor and past President of Chapter 12.
The month of May has brought us much needed rain. But look at those weeds!

Executive Board Meeting Minutes
Mended Hearts Chapter 12 Executive Board met Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the volunteer office of Baylor Scott & White, Temple, TX. Attending the meeting were Lloyd Jeffries, Mary Myers, Rick Whitney, and Millie Henn.
President Jeffries called the meeting to order.
Mr. Jeffries is organizing a new Mended Hearts chapter in the McAllen, Texas, area. The potential charter members of the new chapter are currently joining the national organization and affiliating with Chapter 12 until their chapter is chartered. The national office is sending Chapter 12 $5.00 for each due paid by joining with Individual memberships.
Millie Henn moved, and Rick Whitney seconded the motion that the money received based on those dues be set aside in a designated fund and returned to the McAllen chapter upon its charter. The motion carried.
The time line for returning to face to face patient visiting was discussed. No word from the hospital yet.
Meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m.

Mended Hearts Cen-Tex Chapter 12
April 22, 2021 Meeting Minutes
Mended Hearts Chapter 12 met Thursday, April 22, 2021, at the home of Tracy and Sam Kaiser. Attending the meeting were Lloyd and Raylene Jeffries, Tracy and Sam Kaiser, Mary Myers, Rick Whitney, John Hasandras, Lyna Pitts, Letty and Dean Rucker and Millie Henn.
Vice president Rick Whitney called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m: and thanked the Kaisers for hosting our meeting and pillow stuffing session.
Treasurer Mary Myers reported a current balance in restricted fund is $1,355.49 and in unrestricted is $1,304.83 for a balance of $2,57.321.
There are no minutes from the February or March meetings, but a zoom meeting was held February 25, 2021 and again on March 25, 2021. Shannon Goldrick, BSN, RN Senior Manager, Clinical Education Medical Visual, Inc., presented the March program and spoke on
“The Impact of Health Literacy on Cardiovascular Disease”.
Mr, Jeffries reported on the potential chapter start up in the McAllen area. The potential charter members have joined Chapter 12 and the $5.00 received by Chapter 12 will be held in a restricted fund and given to the new chapter when chartered.
Mr. Whitney reported that 103 pillows have been distributed so far this year. During the pillow stuffing session over 100 pillows were stuffed. Lyna Pitts was thanked for her long-term dedication in making heart pillows for Chapter 12. She has made several thousand over the last ten years. Mrs. Pitts used the fabric donated to Chapter 12 in December to make some of the pillow cases stuffed during this session. Mrs. Kaiser kept pillows to stitch and Mrs. Henn took pillows to stitch.
The next meeting will be May 27, 2021 via Zoom.
