Chapter Meeting Announcement
Date: July 23, 2020
Time: 6:30 pm
Program: Where Mended Hearts is headed locally and nationally
Location: Virtual meeting via Zoom
Chapter 12 does not usually meet in July, however due to the ongoing pandemic and the prohibition of face to face meetings, we are gathering via zoom in order to stay in touch and support one another. Lloyd Jeffries who is our zoom host will send an invitation to the meeting and instruction of how to participate.

Highlights of Information shared at Regional meeting
- 8% of national funding went directly to programs in 2019
- The Mended Hearts, Inc. is the largest cardiovascular peer-to-peer support network in the world. It includes both the Mended Hearts and the Mended Little Hearts programs, so we support patients and families across the lifespan
- National Goals: Increase membership; Increase and diversify funding; Improve website; provide visiting and leadership training; provide education on line; continue growth of marketing and communication
- 2019 Annual Report numbers: 4874 Connections in a Heartbeat members; 52,000+ Heartbeat Magazines; 125,000+ Heart Guides distributed; 1755 Chapter events and meetings; 1040 local chapter/group volunteer leaders; 72 leaders trained ;
- Covid 19 Rapid Response: Suspended all visiting and face to face meetings and events; the Board of Directors meet weekly to discuss the plan or to pivot as needed; immediately started training for online visits, this training continues; developed a long term virtual visiting program.
- Visiting program 2020: Virtual support meeting platform which includestoolkit for “ready made meetings”, support for chapters to design virtual meetings; Virtual visiting training for all accredited visitors; Visit me Platform includes web-site, video-chat ipad program, text messaging, email visiting and hotline for telephone support
- Education programs: Beyond the numbers: Lipid education; Diabetes and Heart Disease education; Heart Failure Education; Flu and Heart Disease program; Heart guide to be released; Regional meetings will resume in the fall; CHD symposium to be held in Houston October 23-24
- Annual meeting will be broadcast live on August 23, 2020; Leadership training will be August 20-25 for 300 leaders cross the nation,000 emails sent

Mended Hearts Cen-Tex Chapter 12
June 25, 2020 Meeting Minutes
Mended Hearts Chapter 12 met Thursday, June 25, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom for a Southwest Region Meeting hosted by Lloyd Jeffries and chapter 12. National officers President Ron Manriquez , Vice President Marin Kaiser and Secretary –Treasurer Al Voss, national staff members Jodi Smith and Mandy Sandkuhler attended along with 35 chapter members from 8 chapters across the southwest region. This meeting served as the first virtual regional meeting for the national organization. The national officers and staff members updated attendees on the status of Mended Hearts/Mended Little Hearts. The organization is growing and becoming financially sound, 99% of every dollar given goes to programs.
The chapter zoom meeting was called to order by Lloyd Jeffries at 7:30 following the adjournment of the regional meeting. Attending the meeting were Letty and Dean Rucker, Tracy and Sam Kaiser, Steve Kranyec, , Mary Myers, Dale Whitney John Hasandras and Millie Henn President Jeffries called the meeting to order.
The May 21, 2020 minutes were approved. Treasurer Letty Rucker reported a chapter balance of $2853.14. The report was accepted. The following committee chairs reported: Visiting Chair Lloyd Jeffries announced 239 visits to date. The new on line/telephone VISIT ME program will begin when the lap top computer from national arrives and our chapter 12 visitors have completed the online training for the program. Pillows chair Rick Whitney reported that in June he added 53 pillows, delivered 47 to the patient floors and has two bags of pillows at home that t he is preparing for the pillow shelf. Year to date 202 pillows have been paced on pillow shelf and 179 delivered to patient floors. Newsletter chair .Millie Henn sent a June newsletter to members and will send a newsletter in July.Next meeting will be July 23, 2020 via zoom. Meeting adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
