  • 1.  BILATERAL CARPAL TUNNEL LINK to AMYLOIDOSIS w/ cardiac onset 5-15 yrs later

Believe it or not there is a link between bilateral carpal tunnel and a heart condition called amyloidosis. Bilateral carpal tunnel is an early symptom appearing 5-15 yrs in advance of the amyloid attacking your heart.  If you have bilateral carpal tunnel, spinal stenosis, trigger finger + cardio myopathy aka heart issues,  please consider getting screened for cardiac amyloidosis.

Wow! Thanks for sharing this! I have bilateral carpal tunnel as well as spinal stenosis, in addition to cardiac arterial disease, and never knew they were connected to amyloidosis. That could explain why I keep having chest pains but the cardiologists just say there's no new blockages so I have nothing to worry about. Perhaps they're just not looking in the right place. Going to have to look into this more.

    Hi Brett,

Thank you for reading my post.

It sounds like you have some compelling symptoms to dig deeper. The unfortunate part of cardiac amyloidosis is that very few doctors are experienced at recognizing/ connecting all  the symptoms to do more testing. I am attaching a testing "algorithm" for your/ your doctors reference. Send them a note on "My Chart" attached the algo and ask for testing to rule out amyloidosis. There are good drugs now to slow down/ stop the progression.

I'm the facilitator with a support group in the Pacific NW working on increasing awareness so folks like yourself get checked out. If you have questions please feel free to contact me again. Here is a good resource for more info. https://arci.org

    Keep in touch. I care.
