  • 1.  Did your device ever pop out of its pocket?

    Posted 2 days ago

    Dear Friends,

Has your pacemaker/defibrillator ever fallen out of its pocket after you made a sudden movement? I felt mine pop out after I bent over too quickly today (Saturday) and then stood up abruptly. I instinctively pushed it back and it seemed to return to its source without incident but I was quite stunned. I feel normal now, but a little fearful. Coincidentally, I had an EKG yesterday and a positive conversation with my cardiologist, had no issues to report, and was pronounced in good cardiac health.

For background, I had a Biotronik pacemaker/defibrillator for a little over 10 years (since March 14, 2014), which was replaced with a smaller device Nov. 1, 2025. I am wondering whether the smaller new device is floating loosely in the pocket space left by the original larger device. Or am I overthinking things? :-) My pulse is normal and I have no other symptoms. Thank you! LH

    Linda,
Since you've had experience with two conventional pacemakers, I have a suggestion. The next time you meet your Electrophysiologist,
ask about the Abbott lead-less pacemaker.
It's a small 35 mm x 5 mm implantable device that you'll never have these problems with.
I had mine installed in 2023, and have to checked electronically, every six months. Future tests will be done at remotely at home.
    Good luck,
    Vic
