  • 1.  EXTREMELY WORRIED

    Posted 9 hours ago
    Hello everyone,
I'm 41 years of age, 5'11, 61kg, non-smoker and non-drinker.  I suffer from anxiety, depression, stress and hypothyroidism.  I am currently on medication for these conditions.
Since the beginning of August of this year, I have been experiencing chronic, sustained and persistent heart palpitations, heart flutters, chest pain, pain in my left arm, random muscle twitches, a random twitch in my left eye.  The following tests have been carried out in 2025:  ECG, troponin blood test, chest X-ray, echocardiogram, 48hr Holter Monitor, 24hr Blood pressure monitor and Stress exercise test.   The only abnormal finding from all of these tests was RBBB.  I had similar symptoms in 2021.  The tests carried out in 2021 were: ECG, echocardiogram and 72hr Holter Monitor, with no negative findings.  I'm not sure if RBBB was present at the time, as the cardiologist did not mention it at the time, and I have no ECG printout to prove it.  My maternal grandfather had coronary artery disease, and my uncle (maternal side) also has it.  As a result of the tests carried out in 2025, my cardiologist now wants to carry out an angiogram.
I'm extremely concerned about this angiogram, because of the possibility of it detecting heart disease.  I fear that I will need a stent fitted, or require bypass surgery.  I believe strongly my high levels of anxiety and stress have caused heart disease.  The cardiologist and my GP are not really offering much in the way of help or reassurance.  As a result of the lack of help from my doctors, I have been using the internet to try and get some answers.  Should the previous completed tests have detected a heart condition?  How likely is it that I have heart disease or heart valve disease?  Is there anything that I can do that will help to ease my worries?
