  • 1.  hair loss after cabg

    Has anyone else experienced hair loss after cabg?  I had cabg on 10-7 and my hair is "falling out". I don't. have big bald spots yet but it is annoying and concerning.   I read that it commonly occurs 3-4 months after cabg and that the hair loss will stop and hair return 6-12 months after the surgery.  I would love to hear from anyone who has experiencd this and what if anything they did to remedy it.

    Yes, after my open heart surgery for aortic valve replacement my hair started falling out. Then it stopped after ~6 months. I just let it happen but if I had to donit all over again I would make some rosemary oil and massage my scalp with that, letting it stay in for about 12 hours and then rinse out. Rosemary is great for increasing circulation and great for hair health

    Hi Priscilla. I haven't had that procedure but I can advise on hair loss. You can get a topical solution from Amazon, or countless other places I'm sure.  Search 5% minoxidil solution and check those out. I use one and it's really helped my hair grow back and, as a topical, you don't have to worry about hair growing everywhere like it does when you take a pill.  was told by my cardiologist to stop taking the pill because it interfered with my already wonky heart beat. The topical works just as well, and doesn't defect your heart. Make sure you use one that's an oil, or comes with a dropper.  The foam ones don't really get to your scalp where it needs to be, plus they make your hair dirty. I know how losing your hair feels. Once you get it back you feel wonderful. I hope this helps.
