In 1946 I was born with a congenital heart defect called coarctation of the aorta.
Coarctation of the aorta is defined as a narrowing of the aorta. This was surgically corrected at age 10 in December of 1956. The narrow place of my aorta was removed and the 2 ends sown back together. I have lived a long life with this condition and am still going strong at age 77. I would like to find others with the same condition and share my experience. I also wish to give give encouragement to parents of children with CoA and let them know that a normal life span and health are possible after surgical correction with ongoing medical observation, exercise and diet.
