Hi Everyone:  I finally caved in 5 months ago and went on 20 Milligrams of Simvastatin.   And now in the past few days am experiencing severe muscle weakness in my legs along with such a severe cramping in my upper thigh yesterday when I bent down to get something in my cabinet that I had to crawl over to my recliner and after 4 attempts finally pull myself up, I live alone and it was very frightening. My thighs are still very sore today and I won't dare to bend down.   I know this has to be the statin and my Doctor's appointment is not for two weeks.  I decided as of today that I will not be taking them anymore and will do natural alternatives.  Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I eat correctly and had been walking my dog a mile a day but have not done so in two weeks.  I had been taking Milk Thistle and it is my genetic LDL that is always too high.

Muscle weakness related to statins is a very serious side effect and you should be speaking with your doctor right now, not two weeks from now, at least over the phone.  If your doctor is that unavailable, you need to find another doctor who can see you immediately.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Please check with your cardiologist for alternatives also.
