In 1986 I was 6 months pregnant and diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Oncologist told me that he could cure me, but didn't know what the treatments would do to me 25 years down the road. 24 years laters I was diagnosed with Left Bundle Branch blockage, fluid in the pericardium, Left Ventricular Dysfunction (LVD) and Atrial Flutter.
I had a cardiocentesis to remove fluid from the pericardium. The fluid has returned and is considered chronic. I had an Internal Cardiac Defibrillator inserted in 2016, and had an ablation to fix the flutter in 2017.
With the help of a great group of doctors, diet, and exercise I was able to dance with my son at his wedding in April of 2019 and hold my new granddaughter!
In October of 2019 I was selected as one of 32 women to attend a 3 day training symposium at Mayo Clinic and was designated as a Women Heart Champion. I am proud to be a member of both groups where I can not only learn from, but also help others who live with heart disease.
