I was born with Tetrology of Fallot. It was during the infancy of heart surgery which ironically enough, was developed to help "blue babies ". My first surgery was an emergency surgery at the age of four. I had more corrective surgery at 12. I had done great until I got married and became pregnant. I had gone into failure in my first trimester. After a rough pregnancy, my baby was fine and mom survived. It took almost four years for me to feel some semblance of my old self but I did. I am now a grandmother and enjoy every minute of it. Of course, I've had all those ups and downs that we all experience but I have enjoyed my life that I could never have had without the benefits of surgery.
